1. refuse to consider something: to refuse to give consideration to something

2. reject somebody or something: to consider somebody or something as unsuitable for a particular reason
dismissed the idea as ridiculous

3. end employment of somebody: to stop employing somebody, e.g. because of unsatisfactory work or wrongdoing

4. send somebody away: to order or allow somebody to leave

5. law refuse case further hearing in court: to refuse to give further hearing to a case in court

6. cricket put player or team out: in cricket, to end the innings of a batsman or a team
