jaçana [ jássə n, jə knə ] (plural jaçanas or jaçana)

Definition:
 
tropical water bird: a water bird with short rounded wings and tail and long toes that enable it to walk on floating plants. Male jaçanas incubate the eggs and raise the young birds. Native to: tropics, subtropics.  Family Jacanidae.
