1. German submarine: a German submarine, especially one used during World Wars I and II

2. US World War II Jewish fugitive: in a Nazi-occupied country, a Jewish fugitive from the Holocaust who went underground, moving from place to place under false papers, occasionally surfacing to get assistance from sympathizers ( slang )
