F distribution
F distribution (plural F distributions)


noun 
Definition:
 
probability measure: a statistical measure of the spread or scattering of members of two observed random samples as a test of whether the samples have the same variability. The F distribution is obtained by taking the ratio of the chi-square distributions of the samples divided by the number of their degrees of freedom.
