Cultural Note

Mansfield Park, a novel (1814) by Jane Austen. It tells the story of young Fanny Price, who is sent to live with her wealthy relatives, the Bertrams. Fanny's warmth and moral strength, which are contrasted with her uncle's stern traditionalism and the irresponsible flirtations of her neighbours Mary and Henry Crawford, eventually win her the respect of the family and the hand of her cousin Edmund.
