Definition:

1. automatic advance to next round: the right to proceed to the next round of a competition without contesting the present round, often through nonappearance of an opponent

2. informal match: in golf, an informal match contested over remaining holes, once the main competition is over

3. extra run without hitting ball: in cricket, a run scored off a ball that has not been hit by a batsman, awarded to the team as a whole rather than to an individual batsman
