Windows Live® Search Results Andrés Segovia (1893-1987), Spanish musician, the most important classical guitarist of the 20th century, who re-established the guitar as a serious instrument for concert music. Born in Linares, he made his concert debut in Granada at the age of 14 and began an international career in Paris in 1924. Several important contemporary composers created works for him, including Falla, Villa-Lobos, and Rodrigo, and he himself made many transcriptions for guitar, especially of lute and harpsichord music.
