Ålborg, formerly Aalborg (ancient Alburgum), city and seaport, capital of Nordjylland County, Denmark, the north-eastern portion of the Jutland Peninsula, on the southern shore of the Limfjorden, near Århus. The chief products manufactured in Ålborg are cement, chemicals, tobacco products, and liquor. Founded early in the 11th century, the city has been an episcopal see since 1554. Nearby is Rebild National Park, a memorial to Danish-American friendship opened in 1912. Population 121,100 (2003 estimate).
