Map of Great Plains

Great Plains, vast, generally high plateau, central North America. The plains extend from north-western Canada through parts of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and into the United States, where they continue south to Texas. The Great Plains are bordered on the east by the Canadian Shield and the Central Lowlands of the United States and on the west by the Rocky Mountains. They have productive grain and livestock farms and extensive oil and coal deposits.
