Windows Live® Search Results Ludwigsburg, town in south-west Germany, in Baden-Württemberg, near the River Neckar. It is a rail junction and manufacturing centre; products include machinery, textiles, motor-vehicle parts, plastics, and surgical instruments. Ludwigsburg developed around a Baroque castle, built in the 18th century as the seat of the dukes of Württemberg. The castle, surrounded by fine landscaped gardens, is now a museum. The poet Eduard Mörike was born in Ludwigsburg, and Schiller lived here from 1768 to 1773. Population (1989 estimate) 79,300.
