Lake Scutari (Albanian Shkodër, Serbian Skadarsko Jezero), largest lake of the Balkan Peninsula, located astride the border between north-western Albania and south-western Montenegro, near the Adriatic Sea. It has an area of 370 sq km (143 sq mi). A shallow lake, it receives the River Morača in the north and drains to the south by way of the River Buenë. The Albanian city of Shkodër is on the south-eastern shore.
