Lolland, also Låland, island, south-eastern Denmark, in the Baltic Sea, at the southern entrance to the Storebælt. It is 58 km (36 mi) long and 16 to 32 km (10 to 20 mi) wide, with an area of 1,241 sq km (479 sq mi). The surface is flat, and the soil is cultivated in sugar beet. Lolland, Falster, and Møn islands and part of Sjaelland (Zealand) Island form Storstrøm County. Population (1994 estimate) 72,026.
