Daniel H. Burnham

Daniel H. Burnham
American architect and city planner Daniel H. Burnham designed and constructed some of the world’s first steel-frame buildings. As a leader of the so-called Chicago School of architects, Burnham pioneered a new approach to architecture that paved the way for modern skyscrapers. His 1909 plans for the development of the city of Chicago anticipated many of the issues and problems that would face large urban centres.
