The Legend of St Ursula

Active mainly in Venice, Italian painter Vittore Carpaccio created pageant works full of anecdotal detail. Painted between 1490 and 1495, St Ursula and her Betrothed Meet and Are Blessed by the Pope is one in a cycle of nine paintings illustrating the life of St Ursula. It is in the Academy of Fine Arts, Venice.
