B. F. Skinner

B. F. Skinner
During World War II, American psychologist B.F. Skinner conducted valuable research on pigeon training, which eventually led to his development of the Skinner box. Skinner placed his pigeons in a specially designed chamber and used rewards and punishments to teach them certain types of behaviour. He applied this training technique, known as operant conditioning, in numerous contexts including bringing up his own children. He built a playpen for his children with toys designed to promote learning and creative behaviour through operant conditioning.
