Munich, Germany
The old section of Munich contains many buildings constructed during the early 18th century by its Bavarian rulers. The ornate town hall, foreground, dominates the Marienplatz, a famous square. The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), a late-Gothic brick cathedral, stands next to the hall, background. The church was built in the 15th century, and its towers stand 99 m (325 ft) high.
