Charles X

Charles X
The artist François Gérard depicted the French king Charles X in coronation dress for his enthronement at Reims on May 29, 1825, an event that revived the tradition of the Old Regime. During the French Revolution he had been a leader of the aristocratic émigré community, and his attempts to limit electoral reform in France contributed to his own overthrow in the July Revolution of 1830.
