Cecil B. DeMille
The American film-maker Cecil B. DeMille was one of the most famous of the early film directors. He was the first to deal with social issues, in films such as Manslaughter (1921). His spectacular epics, including The Ten Commandments (1956), were also landmarks in the history of cinema.
