Notre Dame Cathedral, Paris
Notre Dame Cathedral, in Paris, was begun in 1160 and completed for the most part by 1225. It is one of the best-known Gothic cathedrals in the world. The view here is of the south side, overlooking the Seine, displaying the dramatic flying buttresses and one of the famous rose windows. Although Notre Dame is considered a Gothic structure, it incorporates elements of the earlier Romanesque style.
