Gran Paradiso National Park
Gran Paradiso National Park, the first established national park in Italy, covers a mountainous area in the north-west of the country. Containing a diversity of habitats, including forests of larch and firs, immense alpine prairies, cliffs, and glaciers, the park ranges from 800 m (2,625 ft) at the base of the valleys to the 4,061-m (13,320-ft) summit of Mount Gran Paradiso.
